I do not define innovation as using a new tool or introducing novelty for its own sake. I consider an innovation worthwhile when it responds to a real learning need, aligns with the intended learning outcomes and can improve how students engage with, apply or communicate knowledge.
My innovations therefore emerge from a stable pedagogical foundation but are adapted to course level, cohort characteristics and professional context. The AAN criteria similarly distinguish meaningful innovation through its relevance and impact on learning, including achievement and quality of student work
